Busy retina practice seeking to hire full-time ophthalmic medical assistants. This is a unique opportunity for someone seeking to enter the healthcare field or to gain experience in healthcare. Ideal candidate would possess a desire for long term employment. This is an entry level position with growth potential. Medical experience preferred but not required. Willing to train. Upcoming or recent college graduates are encouraged to apply. Would work under the direct supervision of physicians. CPT and ICD-10 coding as well as knowledge in electronic medical records a plus. Responsibilities include:
- performing work-up procedures prior to exam consisting of obtaining patient's medical history, checking visual acuity, measuring eye pressure, dilation and preparing an electronic medical record
- assisting physicians during retinal exam and assisting with procedures such as laser treatment and ocular injections
- performing retinal testing such as fluorescein angiography and ocular coherence tomography
- scheduling outpatient hospital surgical procedures/obtaining authorization for surgical procedures
