Retina Practice Seeking an Ophthalmic Assistant

Qualifications/Experience:

·Innovative thinker who is positive, proactive, and readily embraces a complex environment with constant change

·Well‑organized with strong attention to detail

·Knowledge of medical and ophthalmic terminology, diseases, symptoms, medications, and anatomy or is willing to learn

·Demonstrates computer literacy; EHR experience helpful

·Knowledge of daily operations and patient flow in a physician’s practice helpful

·Strong writing, verbal, and touch typing skills

·Ability to multi‑task, prioritize, and manage time efficiently

·Bilingual a plus

Primary duties:

·Performs technical workups to include obtaining patient's visual acuities, Goldmann applanation/tonometry, past medical/surgical history, and administering eye drops

·Performs diagnostic testing (OCTs, VFs, and FAs), procedure setups, and assisting in minor office procedures (injections; FGXs; lasers;...)

·Scribe for the physician during the exam and ensure maximum efficiency of office flow

·Set up, clean, and stock exam rooms for daily use

·Conduct patient communication and return calls

·Assist physician in surgery in a hospital setting

·Other duties assigned

Experienced preferred but not required. OSC, COA, COT, COMT, OSA, and/or CRA certification a plus.
