Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in assisting ophthalmologists in providing high-quality eye care. This position requires a strong understanding of medical office procedures, anatomy, and ophthalmology, along with excellent communication skills to ensure a positive patient experience.

We do travel 5 days out of the month to satellite locations in Hazleton and Honesdale.

Responsibilities

  • Assist ophthalmologists during examinations and procedures by preparing the necessary instruments and equipment.
  • Perform preliminary diagnostic tests, including visual acuity tests, tonometry, and retinal imaging.
  • Record patient medical histories and vital signs accurately in the electronic health record system.
  • Educate patients on eye care procedures and follow-up instructions.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, adhering to aseptic techniques.
  • Manage front desk duties, including scheduling appointments and handling patient inquiries.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
  • Support medical billing and coding processes as needed.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a medical office setting is preferred. We will train you however but must be motivated to learn.
  • Knowledge of anatomy related to the eye and common ophthalmic conditions.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Experience or training in ophthalmology is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in front desk operations, including appointment scheduling and patient communication.
  • Basic understanding of medical billing and coding practices is a plus.
  • Ability to perform aseptic techniques during procedures.
  • Experience with electronic health record systems such as Epic is advantageous.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
