Job Summary:
The Patient Care Coordinator will protect the health and safety of the patient and advocate to improve patient outcomes. Interacts with all members of the healthcare team to keep the lines of communication open. Responsible for coordinating information between patients and physicians/nurses within the clinical setting, ensuring everyone involved in the case is up to date with the latest patient information. Additional responsibilities include scheduling diagnostic testing outside of the practice with follow up to the patient regarding additional testing. This position will cross train to be able to support the clinical setting as a technician with capabilities to fulfill the technician role.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: (Additional duties may be assigned)
- Ability to answer phone calls.
- Ability to identify patient symptoms through telephone communication with proper documentation and recognizing next steps.
- Ability to coordinate with healthcare professionals.
- Ability to work well with others.
- Ability to use EMR.
- Ability to build positive relationships with patients.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Medical Assistant or equivalent.
- Minimum of 1 year of medical office experience.
- One-year related experience and/or training in healthcare; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Equipment, Machines and Software Used:
Office Equipment: Computer, printer, photocopier, telephone, fax machine.
Computer Software: Nextech and Outlook
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent phone etiquette.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Must be detail-oriented and well organized.
Job Type: Full-time
