What are the responsibilities and job description for the Plan Support Specialist - Internal Relationship Management position at Retirement Plan Advisors?
We are a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) specializing in defined contribution (DC) retirement plans. We are looking for an experienced retirement plan consultant and relationship manager. You are an experienced defined contribution plan professional able to help identify existing plan retention while supporting external staff to enhance our high-touch service model.
This critical role reports directly to RPA’s Vice President of Plan Consulting, supporting the five individuals who comprise our Sales and Plan Relationship Management teams. Your focus will be proactively supporting the retention and satisfaction of existing group retirement plans as well as the implementation of new plans. You will play a fundamental role in achieving our ambitious revenue growth objectives.
Daily responsibilities include CRM management, generating data and creating strategic plan reviews, and communicating with recordkeeper partners to obtain information and assist in issue resolution of participant and plan sponsor inquiries. This position involves frequent phone calls and emails, value proposition positioning, and coordination with internal consultants, plan sponsors, and RPA advisors.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Direct experience in a business support role supporting client-facing professionals
- Minimum 1 year defined contribution plan experience required, 2-3 preferred; government/public sector defined contribution plan experience a plus
- Understanding of the different defined contribution codes – 401(k), 403(b), 457(b), 401(a)
- College degree preferred but not required
- Knowledge of Salesforce or similar Client Relationship Management (CRM) software, comfortable with other sales technology and the Microsoft Office suite
- Self-starter who can operate well in a collaborative team environment

Salary : $60,000 - $75,000
