RETTEW is currently seeking an experienced Safety Consultant to join our dynamic Health, Safety & Environment Team based in Mechanicsburg, PA. We are looking for a candidate who possesses a deep understanding of safety programs and concepts, coupled with exceptional project management and supervision skills.
As a Safety Consultant, you will be responsible for managing client relationships and overseeing projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, professional standards, and our company values. Collaboration with other consultants and project managers on various initiatives will be a crucial part of this role.
The Safety Consultant is responsible for managing multiple client relationships and client projects, assuring adherence to contract requirements, professional standards, business excellence, and company values. The Safety Consultant typically:
- Supervises at least two others per project
- Manages single discipline projects with budgets under $10,000

Key responsibilities for this position include:
-Developing and implementing comprehensive client/project plans, establishing and nurturing client relationships, facilitating productive meetings and work sessions, preparing accurate change orders, maintaining effective communication and coordination with other service areas, and efficiently managing the team billing process.
-Staying abreast of advancements in multiple functional areas, serving as a trusted technical advisor and knowledge resource, and fostering the development of subject matter experts within the team.
General Responsibilities
Project Management
- Establish client and project plans aligned with Practice objectives
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Maintain an active marketing/sales role for the company with emphasis on business development and Practice growth
- Participate in selecting project team(s)
- Manage team workflow for maximum efficiency
- Handle meetings, work sessions, and public hearings
- Assist clients in selecting contractors as needed
- Prepare change orders and addenda to contracts
- Effectively communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with other Practices to maximize efficiency and customer service
- Participate in interoffice scheduling with other project managers
- Complete the project billing process on time
- Assume ultimate responsibility for the collection of amounts due
- Training development and delivery to clients
Technical Leadership & Expertise
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of several functional areas plus specialization in one area
- Serve as a technical advisor and knowledge resource by training and assisting other team members
- Develop team subject matter experts
Staff Management
- May supervise, develop, and mentor safety technicians.
- Evaluate and anticipate knowledge and skill needs and ensure appropriate project staffing levels to meet them
- Coordinate internal work activities internally to provide seamless client service
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety / Safety Science / Safety Management or related field
- Professional Certification (CIH, CSP, CHST) preferred
- Minimum three years experience in Safety or related field
- Experience in safety consulting preferred
- Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to travel to field sites locally and overnight as necessary
