Position Summary :
The Pharmacy Assistant performs pharmacy functions under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist. Duties include but are not limited to : Pharmacist support including answering phones and processing medication demands, filling patient specific medication, Cleanroom / IV support including compliance with USP Chapter 797 and 800 procedures, filling and maintaining the Pyxis MedStations, filling floor stock orders, filling and replacement of emergency kits, medication packaging, inventory management, performing various computer functions relating to billing, printing labels and reports and maintaining regulatory standards.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities Includes the Following :
- Performs all tasks according to policy and procedure.
- Compliance with all elements of the Pharmacy Assistant training tool.
- Integrates customer service into work practice.
- Preform work flow that maintain regulatory compliance of the department.
- Utilizes current hospital requirements for infection control.
- Participates in Performance Improvement Initiatives.
- Utilizes appropriate steps in the decision making process to include recognition and priority setting related to pharmacy work flow issues.
- Collaborates and communicates with the health care team.
- Completes competency requirements.
- Attends mandatory in-services.
- Attends staff meetings as required / requested.
- Utilizes cost containment practices.
- Adheres to all policies and procedures including dress code, code of conduct, customer service, attendance and submission of annual physical.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Understands and adheres to the Performance Standards, Policies and Behaviors.
- Performs all other related duties as assigned.
