Background
TOM - Tikkun Olam Makers - is an Israeli-American Jewish and international global humanitarian project of Reut USA (a 501(c)3 organization) with dual goals of social impact and public diplomacy. TOM seeks to create and distribute affordable and accessible solutions for neglected needs of vulnerable populations by inspiring and supporting a global movement of communities dedicated to its mission. At the same time, TOM seeks to enhance the good standing of Israel and Jewish communities by building a global web of community relations.
Reut USA and TOM are looking for a dynamic VP of Development who can lead and support efforts of revenue generation for TOM in the US as part of the TOM Global team.
Introduction
The VP of Development will be responsible for initiating, researching , guiding, and, where appropriate executing development efforts in the US with the goal of generating revenues for Reut and TOM.
The role will initially focus on one development priority (e.g.corporate sponsorships) and over time will evolve into broader responsibility for other development efforts of the organization. Ideally, the candidate will begin in a part-time position, but will have an opportunity to develop into a full-time team member.
Core responsibilities will include:
- In phase I (8-12 months), assume responsibility for a single revenue stream in order to become acquainted and knowledgeable of the organization. For example, this revenue stream may include fundraising for the TOM Innovation Center, sponsorships for the Global Innovation Challenge, or grants from elected or appointed officials. Note that this area will be identified based on existing rolodex and experience.
- In Phase II, lead and support revenue generating efforts of TOM Global including initiating new revenue streams.
Within areas of responsibilities, the VP of development will be responsible for:
- Versatility (one-stop shop): Ability to write grants and reports, communicate in writing and verbally.
- Ability to manage high level relationships as relevant with seniors professionals at federations, foundations and individual philanthropists including initiating contacts, hosting visits, submission of grant requests and follow-up.
Title and Structure:
- The VP of Development will be part of the senior management and Development Team. They will work with the Chief Development Officer and be guided by the President and CEO.
What Success Looks Like:
- Fundraising for TOMIC and for TOM activities in the U.S. including sourcing, engagement, solicitations, follow-up, closure and collections.
- New opportunities based on existing relationships or initiatives.
Required Skills
- Significant experience and proven track record of development success.
- Public Speaking & Communication – Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver compelling presentations to donors and stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking & Leadership – Ability to create and implement a multi-year fundraising strategy. Over time, this job may require building a small team.
- Technology Proficiency – Experience with CRM and donor management software.
Other
- Position will be in NYC and require in-person presence 4 days a week.
- Work may require travel within the U.S. and international travel, particularly to Israel.
- The TOM Innovation Center is located at the Shefa school at 17 W 60 st. in Manhattan.
