JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Facility Maintenance & Operations will oversee the maintenance and upkeep of the arena and surrounding areas to ensure cleanliness, efficient and effective operations of a well-maintained building, and safety. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in facility management, event conversion, a special emphasis on capital improvement, mechanical (HVAC/ Sprinkler/ Alarm/ etc), technology, computerized systems, grounds maintenance, and sporting equipment. This position will be responsible for the oversight of maintenance, repairs, professional services, stock control, supply orders, routine custodial, grounds and equipment for the facility. Direct oversight of 3rd party vendors including- cleaning, pest control, landscaping, and tradesman. The Director of Facility Maintenance & Operations will also ensure a suitable working environment for the arena and provide appropriate reporting, performance measurements, budgeting, and leadership. This position will report to the General Manager.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
Oversee Arena Operations Department.
Manage the daily administrative duties and responsibilities of the department (payroll oversight, approve purchase orders, manage expenses, order supplies and vendor management, etc.)
Works with General Manager to keep the Arena facility up to organizational standards.
Inspect facilities and equipment routinely to determine necessity of repairs or maintenance.
Schedules all preventative maintenance as well as building and equipment inspections.
Assist with coordinating the set-up/ tear-down of all gameday/non-game day events/facility rentals.
Plans, schedules, and coordinates general maintenance, major repairs and construction projects for arena facilities.
Create logs for maintenance of equipment and capital plans, maintain and update all logs and manuals, for housekeeping, operations and maintenance.
Directs and coordinates subcontractors' work on the building and grounds.
Inspects all subcontracted work ensuring it is completed in compliance with all applicable codes.
Reviews, plans, coordinates and implements OSHA standards to bring arena into compliance with government specifications.
Monitor inventory and order supplies.
Work with the confines of a budget.
Manage the flag program to include ordering, maintaining and lowering/raising all the flags inside and outside of the arena.
Compliance with all OSHA regulations and other government safety regulations.
Manage the greening/recycling/sustainability efforts of the arena from a front-line level.
Serve as MOD for assigned events.
All other duties as assigned.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in related field (eg. Sports administration, operations, event management, recreation/facility management). Or equivalent and related work experience.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in facility or special events environment; sports or entertainment experience preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Must be able to demonstrate (by way of example and/or experience) an elevated level of organization, resourcefulness, and attention to detail.
Motivated self-starter who possesses the ability to work both independently and an integral member of a team.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Creative, energetic individual who can develop and maintain good relationships with clients, sponsors, and staff members.
