Job Summary:
The role involves setting up tooling and dies in mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic-powered single-stroke punch presses, as well as medium to heavy machinery. This setup process is critical for shaping and forming metals that are used in various manufacturing operations. The individual in this role ensures that all machines are configured correctly to achieve optimal performance and maintain precision throughout production.
Responsibilities:
· Make required set-ups on presses.
· Operate, and perform a limited variety of component operations, setting dies, adjusting stroke, greasing leader pins, attaching and adjusting safety equipment, and working with parts similar in nature but varying in size or detail.
· Perform first-piece inspection and record data.
· Visually inspect components for obvious damage or defects before operation.
· Check work during the run for dimensions, burrs, broken punches, cracking, or buckling.
· Work from shop orders and drawings.
· Use a limited variety of measuring equipment.
· Occasionally instruct operators as to special job conditions or safety precautions.
· Notify the supervisor regarding the necessity of reconditioning or sharpening dies, difficulties with parts or tooling, or equipment malfunction.
· Move material, parts, dies, or containers using a hand jack, segregate and remove scrap.
· Follow prescribed safety practices, including using all safety equipment furnished.
· Work from shop orders and drawings.
· Use micrometers, scales, and fixed gauges and record inspection results.
Requirements:
- Some use of adding and subtracting.
- 2 and up to 3 months of previous experience with various machines, tooling, parts, and inspection equipment.
- Must be able to speak/read and understand English.
Physical Requirements:
- Medium to heavy physical effort loading and unloading parts, frequently moving material, parts, and tooling, operating press, continuously lifting or moving medium to heavy weight material.
- Able to lift to 50 lbs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
