Job Purpose: The purpose of a skin out laminator is to apply a protective layer of fiberglass to molds, ensuring a smooth and durable finish. A Skin Out Laminator plays a crucial role in creating durable and high-quality fiberglass products, contributing significantly to the efficiency and quality of the manufacturing process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare molds and select appropriate fiberglass material.
- Cut fiberglass materials to specified dimensions.
- Mix resins and catalysts in the correct proportion.
- Apply resin-soaked fiberglass onto mold surfaces.
- Use rollers and brushes to remove air pockets and ensure a smooth, even coat.
- Inspect finished products for defects and make necessary repairs.
- Maintain equipment and clean work areas.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Precision in handling materials and following complex instructions.
- Strong hand-eye coordination
- Ability to troubleshoot and adapt to new situations.
- Capability to stand for long periods and handle physical tasks.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent level of training
- One or more years of experience in general labor
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled environment where ambient air temperature can exceed outside air temperature occasionally.
- Must be able to bend at waist and knees and stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to climb into and out of the interior of boats.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds when necessary.
- Keep the work area clean and orderly.
- This is a safety-sensitive position.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to weather conditions, a normal office environment or factory environment that is not climate controlled. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The factory in certain areas maintains a high fiberglass and dust environment.
Personal Protective Equipment might be required in certain areas of the factory including but not limited to safety glasses, respirator, hearing protection, gloves, and protective garments.
Employees in safety-sensitive positions must report to work fit for duty and must remain fit for duty throughout their workday. To be fit for duty, the employee must not be impaired by alcohol, illicit drugs, or medication.
