Job Description
A Senior Data Engineer is needed for a contract-to-hire opportunity with our Columbus, Ohio client. Should have proficiency in data engineering for Azure Data Engineers. Mastery in designing robust, scalable, and secure data solutions on Azure is essential. This includes understanding Azure’s data services ecosystem, such as Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, and Azure Data bricks.
Hybrid – Tuesday / Wednesday onsite
Role Expectations :
Data Engineers must architect solutions that can handle the volume, velocity, and variety of data, ensuring performance and compliance.
Data Engineer must have a strong grasp of cloud security principles and practices.
Understanding Azure’s security features, such as Azure Active Directory, network security groups, and encryption services, is essential.
Data Engineers must ensure that data solutions comply with industry regulations and company policies.
The ability to build and maintain a data architecture that supports both real-time and batch processing will be a defining factor in the success of data-driven organizations.
Qualifications
Senior level : 7 years experience in role with :
Experience, knowledge, and exposure to various project delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Iterative, Agile)
Proficiency in Azure data technology stack.
Experience designing, building, and maintaining ETL / ELT pipelines to move and transform data between systems.
Experience in building Data lakes (primarily Azure DL)
Experience with data warehousing solution
Expertise in building logical and physical data models.
Experience with cloud services such as Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Dataflow), or Azure Data Services
Experience with both SQL and NoSQL databases, like PostgreSQL, MySQL etc.
Ability to work with RESTful APIs and occasionally SOAP APIs for data integration.
Proficiency in visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or experience with data visualization.
Additional :
Strong process orientation and analytical / problem solving skills including the ability to interpret and clarify technical issues
Demonstrated facilitation skills, written and verbal communications skills, organizational skills, and the ability to deliver clear, concise presentations
Demonstrated team spirit with strong adaptability, openness to feedback, and the ability to work cooperatively and creatively across an organization
Demonstrated strong leadership skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products
Demonstrated experience working under tight deadlines
Demonstrated experience working independently in high-priority situations
Demonstrated understanding of business case justification methodology used to recommend process improvements or technology enhancements
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills
Demonstrated ability to manage conflict
Must be extremely organized and detail-oriented with ability to communicate with both business personnel and technical experts
Utility background preferred but not required
Senior level : ITIL v3 or v4 a plus
Senior level : Bachelor’s degree in computer science or an equivalent discipline or equivalent work experience
40 hours of ongoing professional training per year with at least 10 hours related to this role
