POSITION SUMMARY : The Plant Processing Operator oversees daily operations in the pulse crop cleaning plant, ensuring efficient production while meeting product quality and quantity goals. This role focuses on safety, environmental standards, quality control, customer service, and cost management, reflecting the client’s core values and commitment to excellence.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Plant Operations & Maintenance :
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the plant through daily cleaning and upkeep.
Perform regular maintenance, inspections, and cleaning tasks.
Execute changeover procedures as required.
Report equipment deficiencies and mechanical issues immediately.
Conduct and document regular quality checks to ensure contract compliance.
Prepare comprehensive shift reports.
Plant Operations & Safety :
Ensure work meets safety, regulatory, environmental, quality, and cost standards.
Follow good manufacturing practices and industry protocols.
Adhere to quality control standards throughout production, shipping, and receiving.
Report quality issues and improvement opportunities.
Participate in pre-shift and other safety meetings.
Document and control hazards as instructed.
Always wear required PPE in designated areas.
Follow all safety procedures, including lockout / tagout and hot work permits.
Ensure visiting contractors sign the contractor log.
Team Collaboration & Customer Relations :
Collaborate proactively with the team on receiving, shipping, and communication tasks.
Foster a positive team culture through knowledge sharing and constructive feedback.
Communicate issues that could impact operations immediately.
Provide quality customer service to customers, growers, and truck drivers.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Proficient in English communication, both written and verbal.
Prior experience in food processing plant operations is an asset.
Grain cleaning experience preferred.
Skilled in routine equipment maintenance (greasing, belt checks).
Forklift and telehandler certification preferred.
