We are currently seeking a Plant Shipping & Receiving Operator for our client in Cut Bank, MT.
POSITION SUMMARY: The Plant Shipping & Receiving Operator will be responsible for the safe and efficient loading of outbound rail cars and trucks, as well as the unloading of inbound deliveries. This role ensures products meet quality and quantity specifications while upholding the client’s core values, maintaining effective communication, providing excellent customer service, and representing the client as the preferred choice for growers in the purchasing area.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Product Handling and Quality Control:
Understand and follow delivery and loading plans.
Perform product sampling and quality checks to ensure contract requirements are met.
Unload and load trucks; print and record scale tickets accurately.
Maintain an updated inventory log.
Prepare, clean, and load railcars.
Retain samples of shipped and received products for quality assurance.
Plant Operations, Safety, and Maintenance:
Adhere to the cleaning schedule set by operators.
Perform changeovers and document quality checks in the shift log.
Review prior shift reports and communicate any concerns.
Report equipment deficiencies and mechanical issues immediately to the lead operator.
Maintain cleanliness of the office, employee areas, plant surroundings, shipping areas, truck scales, and rail track surroundings.
Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures, including lockout/tagout and hot work permits.
Assist with routine inspections, maintenance, and equipment operation, including forklifts, telehandlers, tractors, and semi-trucks.
Ensure all visiting contractors sign in on the contractor log.
Team Collaboration and Customer Relations:
Work proactively with the team to manage deliveries, shipments, and key communications.
Share knowledge and provide constructive feedback to team members.
Communicate issues affecting quality or operations promptly.
Deliver exceptional customer service to growers and truck drivers, representing the client positively in all interactions.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Proficient in written and verbal communication in English.
Strong time management and multitasking skills with the ability to work independently.
Experience with routine equipment maintenance, including greasing, belt checks, and operator support.
Forklift, tractor, and telehandler certification preferred.
Grain cleaning experience is a plus.
Agricultural experience, farm equipment familiarity, and mechanical aptitude are preferred.
Prior experience with grain elevators is an asset.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Ability to safely lift 50 lbs (23 kg).
Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, squat, and climb ladders/stairs multiple times daily.
Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions throughout the year.
Reliable transportation for daily commuting.
OSHA-approved steel-toed boots required.
Must be legally authorized to work in the USA.
