Revive In Action Inc.‘s StartSmart Initiative empowers refugees, asylees, and immigrants through workforce development programs. Our Home Health Aide (HHA) Pre-Apprenticeship Program supports participants, primarily Haitian Creole speakers, in gaining language proficiency and the skills needed for a successful career in healthcare.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, passionate ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) Instructor to deliver engaging English language instruction tailored to adult learners enrolled in our HHA Pre-Apprenticeship Program. The ideal candidate will have experience working with immigrant populations, particularly Haitian Creole-speaking individuals, and an understanding of workforce development in the healthcare field.
- Develop and deliver ESOL curriculum aligned with Home Health AideAdapt instructional materials to meet the diverse needs and learning styles of adult learners.
- Integrate healthcare-related vocabulary, communication skills, and cultural competency into lessons.
- Foster an inclusive, supportive, and interactive classroom environment.
- Assess students’ language proficiency and track progress through formal and informal assessments.
- Collaborate with HHA instructors, case managers, and program staff to support student success.
- Provide feedback and individualized language support as needed.
- Maintain accurate attendance and student progress records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- ESOL certification or relevant teaching credentials required.
- Minimum 2 years of experience teaching ESOL to adult learners, preferably in a workforce development setting.
- Experience working with immigrant and refugee populations; knowledge of Haitian culture is a plus.
- Proficiency in Haitian Creole strongly preferred.
- Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to create culturally responsive lesson plans that connect language learning with real-life healthcare scenarios.
Schedule:
Monday through Thursday: 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Additional hours may be required for grading, lesson planning, and student support.
