Cost Accounting Specialist

This position is responsible for performing accounting and clerical tasks related to the efficient maintenance and processing of inventory freight charges and other AP functions.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the standard costing of all products used and sold by the company
• Responsible for understanding and maintaining the standard cost program
• Responsible for processing inventory invoices from suppliers and vendors
• Responsible for processing invoices for samples
• Responsible for processing drop ship invoices
• Responsible for performing Accounts Payable function as needed to enter freight invoices in Great plains
• Responsible for reviewing freight variance and inventory analysis
• Responsible for reviewing and coding inventory freight invoices
• Responsible for entering invoices into Great Plains for payment
• Responsible for entering all freight information into the freight analysis program
• Responsible for corresponding with vendors and respond to inquiries
• Responsible for processing weekly UPS and Fedex freight bills
• Responsible for preparing month freight accrual
• Responsible for preparing month in transit report
• Responsible for assisting in month end closing and miscellaneous accruals

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance; or a minimum of four years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong leadership and facilitation skills, dedication to client service, effective project management and proven ability to think strategically
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or government regulations
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management
• Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare reports
• Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented and have the ability to perform the job under a moderate to high level of stress
• Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information
• Experience with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook) is required
• Good communication skills (both written and oral) in order to effectively communicate and report information to all levels of the Company
• Ability to handle confidential information
• Ability to prioritize work and answer questions related to work assignments
