Summary:
We are seeking a friendly, organized, and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our small, patient-focused family medical practice. This dual role will provide essential support to both our clinical and administrative operations, ensuring smooth patient flow and excellent patient care. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties (Medical Assistant):
- Rooming patients, taking vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, weight, height), and documenting patient histories.
- Assisting providers with examinations and minor procedures.
- Preparing and sterilizing medical instruments.
- Maintaining exam rooms and ensuring adequate supplies are stocked.
- Educating patients on basic health information and treatment plans as instructed by the physician.
- Managing and documenting medication refills as directed by the physician.
- Performing EKG's and other diagnostic tests as needed.
Administrative Duties (Receptionist):
- Answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow.
- Greeting patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
- Verifying insurance information and processing patient payments.
- Maintaining patient records and ensuring accuracy of information.
- Managing incoming and outgoing mail, faxes, and electronic communications.
- Handling billing and coding tasks as needed.
- Managing referrals and authorizations.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a Medical Assistant program preferred.
- Current Medical Assistant certification or registration preferred.
- Proven experience in a medical office setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, and basic medical office procedures.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Positive attitude and a team-oriented approach.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: $16.75 - $17.50 per hour
