Revolution Medicines is a clinical-stage precision oncology company focused on developing novel targeted therapies to inhibit frontier targets in RAS-addicted cancers. The company’s R&D pipeline comprises RAS(ON) Inhibitors designed to suppress diverse oncogenic variants of RAS proteins, and RAS Companion Inhibitors for use in combination treatment strategies. As a new member of the Revolution Medicines team, you will join other outstanding scientists in a tireless commitment to patients with cancers harboring mutations in the RAS signaling pathway.
The Opportunity:
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to establish a Protein Chemistry team within the Structural Biology group. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of leveraging internal and external resources to produce high quality proteins of therapeutic interest to support downstream in vitro assays and structural biology efforts. The individual will be passionate about establishing new technologies and play a critical role in developing the group. Working from the bench, they will apply their expertise to design and optimize constructs, expression conditions, and purification protocols for difficult to produce proteins, as well as mentoring other scientists.
Partner and integrate with multidisciplinary, highly collaborative discovery teams to design, optimize, and produce reagents that play a critical role in structure-based drug design and screening
Manage early career scientists and external resources in designing, executing, and interpreting experiments to provide critical reagents
Manage and expand our in-house lab capabilities for expression (Insect Cell and E. coli) and purification of proteins of therapeutic interest
Work cross-functionally to determine and implement quality control metrics for protein deliveries
Communicate experimental design, results and timelines to cross-functional teams
Actively manage external and internal protein production resources to efficiently deliver proteins of therapeutic interest for assays and structural biology efforts
Required Skills, Experience and Education:
Ph.D./post-doc with a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in the biotechnology/pharmaceutical industry or 12 years with a MS
Proven track record of establishing/maintaining E coli and Insect cell culture
Expert in designing, and optimizing DNA constructs for expression and purification of challenging targets
Expert in protein purification (AKTA) and/or biophysical characterization (Thermal melt, CD, anSEC, MS)
Ability to develop and optimize written protocols and document research progress
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Conscientious team-player interested in a fast-paced biotech environment
Demonstrated willingness to learn and improve processes
Preferred Skills:
Experience with biophysical characterization such as HDX, SPR, NMR a plus.
Clear examples of establishing new technologies to increase throughput in protein expression/purification
Demonstrated collaborations with Structural Biology and/or Assay groups through publications and/or patents
Experience with protein-protein complexes including antibodies/Fabs, molecular glues, PROTACs, etc. highly desirable
The base salary range for this full-time position is $184,000 to $230,000 for candidates working onsite at our headquarters in Redwood City, CA. The range displayed on each job posting is intended to be the salary for an individual working onsite in Redwood City and will be adjusted for the local market a candidate is based in. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by multiple factors, including job-related skills, experience, market dynamics, and relevant education or training.
