Aseptic Beverage Operator – Job Description & Duties
Job Description:
An Aseptic Beverage Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining aseptic processing and packaging equipment used in the production of shelf-stable beverages. This role ensures that all products meet food safety, quality, and production efficiency standards. The operator works in a sterile environment, adhering to strict sanitation, regulatory, and company guidelines.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Equipment Operation & Monitoring
- Operate aseptic processing and filling equipment, including UHT (Ultra-High Temperature) systems, sterilizers, and aseptic fillers.
- Monitor and adjust machine settings to maintain optimal production rates.
- Ensure proper handling and setup of packaging materials such as cartons, bottles, or pouches.
2. Quality Control & Compliance
- Perform quality checks on raw materials and finished products to meet regulatory and company standards.
- Maintain aseptic conditions by following strict sterilization procedures.
- Conduct routine sampling, testing, and inspections, including pH levels, temperature, and seal integrity.
- Record and analyze production data for accuracy and compliance.
3. Sanitation & Safety
- Follow cleaning and sanitation protocols to prevent contamination.
- Adhere to food safety guidelines, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
- Report and troubleshoot any contamination risks, leaks, or equipment malfunctions.
4. Troubleshooting & Maintenance
- Identify and resolve minor equipment issues to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with the maintenance team to ensure proper functionality of machinery.
- Assist in preventive maintenance tasks as needed.
5. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain detailed production logs and sanitation records.
- Complete required paperwork and digital records for batch production.
- Report any deviations or non-conformities to supervisors or the quality assurance team.
6. Teamwork & Communication
- Collaborate with production, quality, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth workflow.
- Train new operators on aseptic processing procedures.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding production status and issues.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Technical or Food Science education is a plus).
- Experience in food or beverage manufacturing, preferably aseptic processing.
- Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and FDA food safety regulations.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, sterile production environment.
- Attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
