Position Summary :
We're seeking an experienced mission operations leader (minimum 20 years of experience) to organize the development and build of the mission operations infrastructure that operates our flight and ground hardware. You must be a capable people manager and have experience organizing and directing complex mission operations development projects throughout a complete lifecycle from concept to delivery. You will form and lead a team of engineers responsible for designing, developing, maintaining, testing, and implementing a new mission operations capability for multiple systems.
This role is crucial to the successful and timely operation of our propulsion system products. Ideally, you will have previous experience working on interdisciplinary projects such as robotics, autonomous vehicles, avionics, or aerospace. You will identify / develop / procure the staffing, processes, and tools for your team to meet the development strategy that you will define and implement. Nearly all work involves mission operations for advanced aerospace technologies that support both flight and ground requirements.
The position is full-time, on-site in Maryland or remote, and available to be filled immediately.
Responsibilities :
- Guide a team of engineers that are developing Revolution Space's mission operations infrastructure and deliver to internal and external customers
- Recruit and plan for an organization that will scale to meet the demands of the business as it grows
- Be the driving force behind having a technically excellent engineering team by mentoring team members and setting high standards
- Translate high-level mission concepts into the team's requirements, development strategy, and goals. Communicate these goals inward and outward.
- Collaborate closely with our Electrical, Mechanical, Systems and Validation teams to resolve design strategy and requirements ambiguity
- Hire and mentor new team members to build the capabilities and capacity of the team
- Create an inclusive, collaborative, and team-oriented culture that fosters high productivity and opportunities for growth
- Identify and implement processes, tools, and infrastructure that help accelerate our design and development effort
- Own the end-to-end development from concept to delivery to customer / market
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Program Management, Software Development, Test and Operations, etc.) to ensure quality throughout the mission operations development lifecycle.
