Clinical Systems Analyst (Cerner PowerChart SurgiNet Anesthesia)
POSITION SUMMARY
Cerner Millennium PowerChart SurgiNet and Anesthesia Systems Analyst who reports directly to the Clinical Applications Director and is responsible for the maintenance of Cerner PowerChart SurgiNet and Anesthesia functionality. Responsibilities also include providing immediate application and systems support and overseeing the completion of projects and system enhancements, applying vendor upgrades, and providing application support and user support.
JOB DUTIES (List in order of importance)
1. Utilizing Cerner Millennium PowerChart SurgiNet and Anesthesia the analyst will design, build and document application changes.
2. Consult with end users on PowerChart SurgiNet and Anesthesia design and build changes.
3. Tests software to detailed specifications.
4. Trains less experienced personnel.
5. Reports project activity and status to management.
6. Learns new clinical applications and oversees the completion of tasks related to clinical system functions.
7. Attend applicable vendor clinical application classes.
8. Coordinate the resolution of User calls and determine appropriate action by investigating and analyzing reported hardware and software problems.
9. Identify, analyze, track and report on project issues.
10. Evaluate and assist senior management in the implementation of system upgrades.
11. Analyzing functional requirements documentation, conducting interviews with key personnel and collecting information about the use of the current system.
12. Assist in the preparation of documentation and development of interface and conversion specifications.
13. Act as liaison between departments and external areas as required. Schedule periodic meetings with IS, Vendors and Users to ensure effective communications.
14. Identify and encourage user department procedural changes.
15. Conduct workflow sessions with end users.
16. Demonstrate system to users.
17. Perform system adaptations and modifications according to the prepared specifications.
18. Function as a project implementation manager for clinical system related projects.
19. Assist in developing departmental education and training materials.
21. Refine sample test plans for conversion, interfaces and applications.
22. Assist in the development of a Live Event Plan.
23. Provide post-live application support.
24. Work with Project Management to obtain sign-offs.
25. Complete assigned work plan tasks.
26. Maintain tables, files, profiles, codes sets, etc.
27. Provide after-hours support of clinical applications per schedule.
28. Learn and assist with other applications as directed.
29. Sets up, operates, and troubleshoots anesthesia machines, monitors, and ancillary devices.
30. Responsible for repairs and maintenance of anesthesia equipment in the Main OR, ENDO, and Labor and Delivery suites.
31. Understands, correctly uses, and trains Anesthesia Technicians on the various aseptic techniques used for routine cleaning, disinfecting, sterilizing and storing of all reusable equipment and supplies.
33. May perform Point of Care Testing (POCT) as needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
1. Knowledge of Cerner Millennium PowerChart and PowerChart SurgiNet and Anesthesia
2. Knowledge of Systems Development Life Cycle
3. Project management and project management software skills
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum 2-5 years’ experience with Healthcare Information Systems is required. Implementation project management experience and hands on experience implementing vendor clinical application software, along with a strong desire to learn other technologies is required.
3. Experience in the use of Client Server Clinical systems is preferred.
