Job Overview
The Front End Engineer builds and maintains user-facing features for the company’s high-visibility web platforms within an agile team. This role exists to ensure seamless, responsive, and engaging digital experiences that support millions of users and align with organizational goals.

This is a hybrid position that requires in office presence two days a week in Chicago
What you’ll bring to the table: (Responsibilities)
- Build user-facing features for high-visibility web platforms using modern front-end frameworks and technologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver features efficiently in an agile development environment.
- Maintain a reusable component library to ensure consistent design and functionality across web projects.
- Create responsive web applications that perform seamlessly across various devices and browsers.
- Produce clean, testable code with supporting unit tests to uphold quality standards.
- Enhance user experience by applying design and usability principles to web features.
- Resolve complex technical challenges through innovative problem-solving and alternative recommendations.
- Incorporate security practices into development processes to protect applications and data.
- Improve development workflows by suggesting and implementing process enhancements.
- Research emerging front-end techniques to keep projects aligned with industry standards.
Do you have the right mix of ingredients: (Requirements)
- 3 years of experience developing responsive single-page web applications with modern technologies.
- Preferred; Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or completion of a coding bootcamp.
- Proficiency with React for building dynamic user interfaces.
- Expertise in TypeScript for type-safe JavaScript development.
- Skill in ES6 and modern JavaScript for advanced scripting.
- Experience with SASS for scalable and maintainable styling.
- Competence in integrating REST APIs into web applications.
- Ability to write and test code using unit testing tools (e.g., Vitest, Jest, Testing Library).
- Understanding of responsive design principles for cross-device compatibility.
- Knowledge of user experience best practices for web and mobile platforms.
- Familiarity with web security practices to safeguard applications.
- Experience collaborating in agile teams to deliver features efficiently.
- Background in maintaining reusable component libraries (e.g., using Storybook).

- This is a full-time, exempt position and the base compensation for this opening in Chicago is expected to be $100,000-$140,000 annualized, depending on level, candidate experience, skills, and other factors; this position will be eligible for an annual bonus program with a target of 7.5-10% base annualized salary, for a total compensation of $107,500-$154,000.
