About the role
POSITION SUMMARY:
This is a non-exempt onsite position. The Scale Attendant serves as the first point of contact for customers depositing municipal solid waste at the facility, and performs a variety of administrative tasks relating to the receipt of waste so that appropriate fees may be charged.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Greets, guides, and responds to customer inquiries in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
- Responsible to accurately weigh trucks and enter truck data into scale management software.
- Issues tare ticket to haulers.
- Verifies there is no unacceptable incoming waste.
- Communicates via radio with staff to coordinate vehicle traffic and waste disposal requirements to the tipping floor.
- Monitors inbound and outbound truck activity.
- Collaborates to ensure proper safety procedures are followed and appropriate safety standards are met, including usage of required personal protective equipment.
- Maintains accurate records of all tickets, manifests, and supplies.
- Reviews waste reports and tickets from the previous day for discrepancies and corrects as required.
- Completes all administrative tasks, including completion of required reports.
- Attends company-sponsored training and meetings as directed.
- Ensures general upkeep of the scale house.
- Works overtime, as needed.
- Performs other duties, as assigned, including data entry and minor customer service responsibilities.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- At least one to three years of demonstrated experience with administrative, clerical, and accounting activities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the capability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers.
- Competent skills in Microsoft programs, specifically Excel, is a plus.
- Ability to work 10-hour rotating shifts, including days, evenings, weekends and holidays.
- Must be able to read, write, and verbally communicate in English.
- Proficient time management skills and the capacity to multi-task and prioritize work.
- Well organized, aptitude for numbers, and accurate attention to detail.
- Successful candidate must obtain State of Hawaii Measuremaster License upon hire.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to:
- Use motor coordination with manual finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) as part of the work day;
- Stand and/or sit for prolonged periods of time – up to 10 hours or more per day;
- Operate a personal computer for up to 10 hours per day with adequate vision;
- Hear and understand conversations, both in person and on the telephone;
- Exert physical effort occasionally in handling objects less than 30 pounds;
- Work indoors and outdoors with exposure to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements as part of the work day.
What Reworld Offers You:
The expected base hourly rate is $21-$26.00/hr and is a good faith estimate of what we expect to pay for this position. The final figure will take into account a variety of factors including experience, ability, and location. Reworld is committed to paying its staff equitably, and these ranges should not be considered career salary limits or caps.
