REX Baseball is a collegiate summer wood-bat team in Terre Haute, IN, competing in the Prospect League. Since its founding in 2010, REX Baseball has captured two Prospect League Championships (2015 & 2018) and has built a reputation for helping staff and athletes advance to the next level. We’ve had former interns and staff go on to work for major sports organizations like the NFL, NBA, MLB, MiLB, PGA, UFC, and more.
If you're passionate about live entertainment, fan engagement, and being the voice that energizes a crowd, this internship will provide hands-on experience in a fast-paced, high-energy sports environment. You’ll work closely with the game-day entertainment team, taking center stage as the on-field emcee to create memorable experiences for fans, enhance the in-game atmosphere, and elevate the overall fan experience. This internship is available only to college students seeking UNPAID college credit or experience to build a standout resume.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- The official regular home season begins June 1st and ends July 31st, with the potential to host playoff games through the first week of August.
- Complete internship dates: May 26th to August 12th, including setup and teardown for pre/post season.
- Must be able to work all 2025 home games, REX Academy (youth camp), and other assigned dates.
- Strong background or interest in public speaking, theater, event hosting, or sports entertainment.
- Ability to command a crowd and engage fans with enthusiasm, energy, and confidence.
- Quick thinking and adaptability to react to unpredictable, live-game scenarios.
- Strong communication skills with a clear, articulate speaking voice.
- Experience in hosting events, live promotions, or crowd interaction is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of baseball and sports entertainment to enhance commentary and promotions.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
On-Field Hosting & Crowd Engagement:

- Serve as the on-field emcee for all REX Baseball home games, leading in-game promotions, fan contests, and entertainment segments.
- Deliver pre-game, in-game, and post-game announcements to maintain energy and enthusiasm throughout the ballpark.
- Interact with fans of all ages to create a fun, family-friendly atmosphere.
- Hype up the crowd during critical game moments, ensuring that fans stay engaged and energized
In-Game Promotions & Entertainment:
- Execute sponsored promotions and on-field contests between innings, ensuring smooth transitions and timely execution.
- Collaborate with the production team to ensure seamless coordination of in-game promotions, music, and video content.
- Develop and implement creative ideas to enhance the fan experience and engage the audience.
Pre-Game & Post-Game Setup/Teardown:
- Assist with the setup and teardown of promotional materials, signage, and audio equipment.
- Ensure all on-field props, prizes, and equipment are ready for each game.
- Coordinate with the game operations team to ensure smooth execution of the game-day script.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with fan interaction and entertainment in the concourse and seating areas.
- Engage with fans through social media platforms by creating fun, engaging content during games.
- Serve as Manager of the Day for one game to gain leadership experience.
