Rex Lumber Company, a well-established, company in Englishtown, NJ is seeking a Tally Person to join our team. Rex Lumber Company is one of the largest wholesale tropical and domestic hardwood distributors and custom moulding manufacturers on the Eastern Seaboard. Rex Lumber Company services woodworkers, retailers, store fixture manufacturers and other companies that use hardwood lumber and mouldings in their manufacturing processes throughout North America.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
· Responsible for safety and set-up of the crew.
· Manages load jacket from office with/corresponding orders.
· Checks product book for routine stock pickouts, orders are examined and tallies are written in anticipation of pick-outs, lengths, widths, percentages etc.
· Supervises handling crews as they load boards. Must examine each board individually for length, width, grade, an average moisture content and stress is determined, and while inspecting, any grade discrepancy is reported to management immediately.
· Corresponding board footage and/or lineal measure is determine and entered on tally.
· Upon completion of load, or needed orders, Tally cards are added and footages are checked against the mill claim – An inspector’s report is completed – jacket is returned to office.
· Delivery dates and/or “to mill” dates are to be checked.
· Examine orders for pick outs.
· Examine boards individually for length, width and quality.
· Upon completion of the order, the order tallys are added, and the paperwork is given to the order crew lead person (must have footages, pieces, date, initials, product numbers.
· Must fill out mill cards or customer cards and attached to order pile.
Qualifications:
· Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills.
· Detailed oriented.
· Self-driven.
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
· Knowledge of lumber species both domestic and tropical preferred.
· Must have basic math skills.
· Must be able to read at a high school or GED level.
· Must be able to speak, understand and communicate safety to work related instructions.
