Loader Operator
Position Summary: Loader Operator is an integral part of the Rex team. The Loader Operator is responsible for unloading and placing logs in strategic stacks as well as moving stave stacks to the storage yare and loading those stave stacks on trucks for shipment. The Loader Operator is responsible for helping maintain quality of logs used in production and ensuring that all safety rules are followed.

Principal Accountabilities and Deliverables
- Operate the Loader and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner
- Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment
- Understand and follow directions from supervisors as to required work area
- Operate Loader controls to move grapple to pick up logs and unload logs
- Ensure a sound understanding of the issues involving ground disturbance
- Operate Loader on public or private roadways, maintaining proper awareness of ones surroundings
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance to ensure smooth operation of the Loader
- Operate other heavy equipment and other related duties as required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Education/Experience and Skills
- 2 plus years of Loader experience required, grapple experience a plus
- Good knowledge of lumber products a plus
- Ability to model the Rex Lumber values and to provide innovative solutions
- Ability to deliver high quality, detailed error free work on a consistent basis
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English to the extent required to receive and communicate information as necessary to the position
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment malfunctions to determine causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it

Abilities

- Must be able to bend, stretch, push, pull and twist into various positions during the entire shift
Work Environment
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to fumes, moving mechanical parts and vibrations. Work is performed outdoors, and employee is exposed to a variety of extreme weather conditions at the mill. The noise level in the work environment can be loud
