Job Title: Data Security Engineer
Location: Fair Lawn, NJ
Support type: Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote per week)
Role Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Data Security Engineer to lead a data security project from scratch. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with implementing a data security strategy, specifically with tools such as Microsoft Purview and Netwrix. This is a senior-level role where you will own the design, deployment, and execution of data classification, tagging, and DLP controls across the organization. The role will also involve driving the migration to Azure/Cloud, and consolidating tools for data security strategies, depending on the findings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own and lead the data security project, including the design and implementation of data classification, tagging, and DLP controls from start to finish.
- Ensure successful implementation of data security strategy, including tools such as Purview (for Cloud workloads) and Netwrix (for on-prem workloads).
- Develop and execute a plan for migrating on-prem files (e.g., shared/personal drives) to SharePoint/OneDrive.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth implementation and adoption of new systems.
- Drive the planning and execution of the migration to Azure and ensure alignment with existing and future cloud workload strategies.
- Provide hands-on leadership, managing the deployment and integration of data security systems.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and assist with troubleshooting and issue resolution as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in data security, with expertise in deploying and managing tools such as Microsoft Purview and Netwrix.
- Proven experience leading data security projects, particularly involving data classification, tagging, and DLP controls from scratch.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and deploying security strategies in both Cloud (Azure) and on-prem environments.
- Experience with cloud migration projects, particularly moving workloads to Azure and managing Hybrid AD.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, data labeling, and DLP processes.
- Ability to work independently and lead complex projects without significant handholding.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in Microsoft Purview, Azure, or related technologies.
- Experience with the migration of on-prem applications to the cloud.
- Strong background in managing or consulting on security strategies related to data discovery, tagging, and migration.
