We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Quality Assurance Engineerto join our team located in West Jacksonville, IL.

Responsibilities

Your Role: 

The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer is responsible for inspecting manufacturing processes to ensure that the finished product will comply with quality standards. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineer will be involved in the entire course of manufacturing from incoming raw materials to packaged goods. This role is responsible for documenting all observation and test results and insure control of non-conforming product.

  • Assist with performing calibration of precision lab instrument and maintain quality information systems as well as ensure the 4 Hefty Business Unit plants are complying with calibration standards.
  • Use of micrometers, scales, balances, Instron/MTS, length machines, Force Gages, Precision Custom Gaging Units, etc.
  • Developing new custom gages to ensure product/process quality.
  • GainSeeker SPC Software expert to assist plants with setup of new products, adjusting testing systems, and Python Script editing/implementation to automate data collection.
  • Interface with Consumer Response Team and Callzilla to ensure proper tracking of customer complaints along with daily customer complaint email processing and analysis. Ensure customer complaints are categorized properly by Consumer Response and Callzilla.
  • Achieve quality assurance objectives by collecting information and performing analysis to meet strategic plans for both current and new product designs.
  • Provide support to lines through product evaluation and troubleshooting system issues.
  • Improve product quality by completing timely internal and following up with those results.
  • Perform documentation reviews and tests to ensure compliance with customer and business requirements
  • Audit and ensure compliance with test procedures and equipment within the quality labs and production areas within each of the 4 Hefty Business Unit plants.
  • Review vendor products and components providing insight into their quality and performance.
  • Assist in the performance of statistically based audits and postproduction inspection of products and product characteristics as directed by the Quality Manager. Publish audit results as required.
  • In locations where applicable, responsible to comply with the GFSI standards, prerequisite programs and GMP practices to ensure safe food packaging production. To report potential food safety concerns to those with authority to take action.
  • Assist the Director of Quality as needed.

Qualifications

We need you to have: 

  •  BA/BS in Engineering.
  •  6 years of experience in a quality and/or manufacturing role.
  • ASQ Quality Engineer Certification or willingness/ability to obtain with 12 months. Additional certifications in ASQ Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence and ASQ Certified Six Sigma Black Belt would be preferred along with the ASQ Quality Engineer Certification. Other ASQ Certifications such as Quality Auditor, Technician, and Food Safety and Quality Auditor are a bonus.
  • Knowledge of calibration standards, mechanical and electrical aptitude with precision hand tools for adjustment and repair and working with outside suppliers.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Statistical knowledge and working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) .
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with preference for Kepner-Tregoe training in Problem Solving and Decision Making or Analytical Troubleshooting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills and the ability to communicate and influence at all levels within the organization.
  • Self-directed.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with high attention to detail.
  • Specific training in HACCP or HARA and HARM.
  • Must have the ability to work flexible hours, including weekends.

 

Icing on the cake: 

  • Advanced degree. 

  • Knowledge of statistical software capabilities to facilitate analysis and distribution of quality related data as requested with working knowledge of Minitab.

Posted Salary Range

USD $115,000.00 - USD $130,000.00 /A

Bonus Eligibility

Role is eligible for 10% annual incentive provided the business meets financial goals and the individual meets their performance goals, subject to plan administration guidelines.
