- Operates Tour Boat to company standards in a fashion to ensure safety and customer satisfaction
- Supervises boat staff to ensure that all checklists, cleanup, and set ups have been completed satisfactorily and as per the Banquet Event Order
- Communicates with the group organizer to ensure that all customer needs are met promptly; the captain will be the point of contact for all requests by the group, while on the boat, and will be responsible for communicating these requests to staff.
- Maintains log of all mechanical systems which include drive systems, generator, electrical and water system
- Schedules maintenance as necessary to ensure proper and safe operation
- Coordinates with other departments and organizations to ensure that boat is properly set up and at the point of departure as scheduled
- Provides running commentary about the lore and lake as requested by passengers
- Maintains log of each function to ensure proper billing of function
- Ability to dump ports
- Setup, breakdown and clean up are the responsibility of the captain and crew.
- Must fill in other positions as required such as forklift operator, dockhand, shop clerk, etc.
- Actively demonstrates, encourages, trains and models safety rules and guidelines in accordance with company, Coast Guard, DNR, OSHA, EPA and other state and federal law requirements
- Demonstrates and documents safety training and orientation for all employees to include the use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and safe equipment operation
- Investigates loss producing incidents and reviews prevention recommendations with all employees
- Actively participates in the safety program by attending meetings, providing and documenting safety training and offering improvement suggestions
- Applies the “5S System” to the continued maintenance of a clean and safe work environment for all employees and guests
- Takes personal responsibility for safety every day
- Captain certification preferred
- Must have the ability to make decisions independently to ensure the safety of the vessel and the passengers
- Able to supervise staff to achieve established standards
- Strong swimming skills
- Lifeguard certification preferred
- Must have basic mechanical aptitude and desire to learn
- Must have strong organizational and computer skills
- Must have valid GA driver’s license and a good driving record
- Must have ability to work with the public, good interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have positive attitude, high energy level, and be a team player
- Able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and holidays
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- First aid and CPR training required (Certifications may be obtained after hire date.)
- Will train on Alcohol Awareness
