What are the responsibilities and job description for the Turf Equipment Manager position at Reynolds Lake Oconee?
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the general, detailed and specific inspection, diagnosis, maintenance, repair and service of all turf equipment (such duties include changing mower bed knives and blades, grinding new cutting edges, changing cutting heights, assuring the proper cut of all reel mowers, and small engine repair(gas and diesel))
- Order and stock parts and supplies according to department budget
- Makes recommendations to superintendents regarding the condition and selection of equipment
- Makes periodic field inspection of equipment
- Keeps shop inventory of all equipment, tools, and supplies
- Sees that the shop area inside and outside are kept in good condition and accessible only to approved personnel
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training crew members; planning, assigning, and direction or work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining staff; addressing complaints and resolving problems
- Abides by all federal, state and company safety guidelines
- Ability to use all shop tools properly (welder, torches, grinders, equipment lifts, air tools, etc.)
- Implements effective preventative maintenance program
- Assists Superintendent and 1st Assistant Superintendent with equipment operation training
- Actively participates in yearly equipment manufacturer provided training.
Safety Responsibilities and Requirements:
- Actively demonstrates, encourages, trains and models safety rules and guidelines in accordance with company, OSHA, EPA and other state and federal law requirements.
- Demonstrates and documents safety training and orientation for all employees. This will include the use of PPE (personal protective equipment) and safe equipment operation.
- Investigates loss producing incidents and reviews prevention recommendations with all employees.
- Actively participates in the safety program by attending meetings, providing and documenting safety training and offering improvement suggestions.
- Applies the “5S System” to the continued maintenance of a clean and safe work environment for all employees and guests.
- Takes personal responsibility for safety every day.
Qualifications/Requirements/Experience/Education:
- Previous experience in overall operation of a vehicle/equipment maintenance facility
- Minimum 10 years experience in maintenance and repair of all types of golf course equipment including reel mowers
- Must be able to work well with others including Superintendent, Assistants and Crew Members
