MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Registered professional nurse with current West Virginia license.
2. Maintains current CPR card.
EXPERIENCE:
1. Three (3) years of professional experience; a minimum of two (2) years of patient-side nursing care experience in an acute, intermediate, or long term care clinical facility; one (1) year experience in one or more of the following area: teaching, supervisor, or administration; and present evidence of continuing education.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
1. Baccalaureate degree in nursing (BSN) preferred or working toward degree with a plan to complete a Master's Degree in Nursing.

1. Directs the care for the patient and maintains working knowledge of Hospital, Nursing, and BM Spurr Administrative Policies/Procedures and CQI process. Maintains HIPAA privacy and confidentiality.
2. Prepares for classroom lecture and/or demonstration, conducts classes and supervises student learning.
3. Prepares course outlines and lesson plans for assigned courses. Also prepares and grades tests, reports, and case studies.
4. Selects and organizes learning experiences in accordance with the behavioral objectives. Seeks to create a climate conducive to learning.
5. Participates in the continuing education and evaluation of the curriculum in accordance with the stated philosophy and objectives of the program.
6. Encourages and counsels students to assume increasing responsibility for own development. Evaluates students' progress and classroom performance, offering individual assistance when needed.
7. Prepares patient assignment based on specific student's needs and learning experience. Plans, prepares, and communicates with nursing staff clinical assignments.
8. Assists students to identify their needs and potentials in applying knowledge and skills, development assessment skills, developing skills in making judgments, and developing motion skills.
9. Maintains accurate records to document students' clinical performance.
10. Reviews applications, references, and test results of prospective students. Interviews and tests applicants as necessary.
11. Assists in the development, evaluation, and revision of policies and curriculum of the school as necessary. Assists with preparation of accreditation materials.
12. Participates in studies and uses opportunities through faculty action to initiate improvement in the program.
13. Serves as a role model and resource person for students.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Demonstrates competency as appropriate in patient care assessment for each patient population area served: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric.
2. Knowledge of growth and development.
3. Understanding of the patient's needs and scope of treatment.
4. Understanding of the dynamics for each patient incorporating biophysical, bio-psychosocial, environmental, self-care, educational, spiritual, cultural, ethical, and discharge planning needs.
5. Knowledge of pain management to facilitate patient comfort through a proactive pain control plan.
6. Knowledge of the total care of patients, whose disease is not responsive to curative treatment, focusing on the control of pain and other symptoms.

8. Understanding of the patient's needs and scope of treatment.
