MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of a Basic Dysrhythmia course within 180 days of hire.
EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
- Graduate of Technical Education Program or Medical Assistant Program.
- Obtain certification in HeartSaver OR Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire date.
- Performs cardiac monitoring for all telemetry and hard-wire monitored patients on applicable unit, identifying changes, addressing alarms to identify any abnormal heart rhythm variation, and reporting the patient’s cardiac rhythm, and or life-threatening cardiac events to medical and nursing staff.
- May analyze, interpret and measure ECG strip waveform displays and documents each patient’s rhythm along with any changes and reports these changes according to established guidelines and protocols.
- Utilizes Wave Strip Export to upload patient’s cardiac rhythms/events to corresponding chart in EPIC.
- Monitors pulse oximetry for assigned patient population as applicable.
- Utilizes Epic/Telemetry Dashboard to ensure accuracy of patient Admissions/Discharges/Transfers.
- Assembles a telemetry pack, battery, and electrodes for nursing staff. Ensures necessary inventory of clean packs and availability of batteries.
- Monitors equipment and assists with trouble shooting of malfunctioning equipment with proper notification (i.e.: Healthcare Technology Supervisor and Nurse Manager).
- Responsible for greeting and admitting functions upon patients’ arrival to the department.
- Performs routine clerical operations of unit to ensure smooth communication and functioning including intrahospital communications, admit/transfer/discharge/follow up care information, mail distribution, and maintenance of office supplies.
- Organizes and maintains patient records and appropriate department records to help ensure accurate and complete documentation.
- Coordinate and facilitate ongoing communication to ensure efficient intradepartmental and interdepartmental operations.
- Welcomes visitors to the department and responds in a helpful and courteous manner to requests for assistance or information.
- Assists physicians and other individuals by providing requested information about specific patient or department routines in accordance with the hospital’s policy on Release of Patient Information.
- Coordinates and facilitates ongoing communication to ensure timely, efficient intradepartmental and interdepartmental transportation of patients.
- Completion of annual required education related to specialty accreditation as defined by accreditation standards. Training may be completed through CBLs, trainings, In-services, and competency validation.
- Manual dexterity used in operating standard office equipment.
- Ability to sit for long periods of time.
- Vision (corrected)/hearing within normal limits.
- Ability to visually monitor several computer screens with multiple cardiac rhythms, pulse oximetry and capnography waveforms for sustained periods of time.
- Standard clinical environment.
- Ability to Troubleshoots technology with biomedical engineering and clinical staff.
- Ability to work as a cooperative, focused team player, take direction well, and have a positive attitude to work with the patients, nursing staff, and physicians.
- Basic computer knowledge and ability to operate standard office software.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Good verbal/writing and mathematical skills.
