Job Description -
Surgical assistants are responsible for triaging patients, viewing charts, and beginning patient preparation. Often assistants will make notes and charts about performed procedures, progress, recommendations, and other subjects in the patient's charts. Surgical assistants must ensure all surgical instruments are properly cleaned and sterilized before procedures begin. Surgical assistants may be responsible for tasks such as checking vital signs and maintaining IV fluids during procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides support for ongoing surgeries
Maintain clear airways on sedated patients; performs suction on sedated patients
Performs X-rays on patients
Reviews medical history with patients
Enters patient information into computer system
Performs blood pressure checks, EKG monitoring, Pulse Oximeter monitoring
Records accurate anesthesia record for charting
Records accurate vital signs
Performs post-op patient monitoring, including going over post-op instructions with caretaker
Assist with cleaning, stocking and preparing surgical rooms
Performs cleaning and sterilization of all surgical instruments and equipment
Ensures proper consent forms are signed by patient and/or guardian
Maintains HIPPA
Any duties required to maintain patient flow and any other extra duties office clinical manager assigns

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Certificate in dental assisting and/ or surgical assisting preferred but not mandatory
ACLS, N2O and CPR certification preferred, or must be willing to obtain
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 per week
