RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) develops embedded software and electronics for our world-class clients in the areas of precision agriculture and vehicle electrification. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's engineering and manufacturing facility.

Electrical Engineer
Alternate Titles: (Electrical Design Engineer) (Electrical Test Engineer) (Electrical Systems Engineer)
This position is associated with the development and testing of electrical systems that control vehicle operation and functions. Testing methods include diagnostic troubleshooting, automated software testing, and full or partial machine testing.
Job Description
- Design new and enhance existing test systems for robust electronics intended for on/off road vehicles and harsh environments.
- Perform requirements capture, analysis, design, programming, debugging, hardware integration and verification.
- Perform tasks, with some supervision, to meet quality, delivery and cost goals.
- Collaborate with global cross-functional teams to design, integrate, and deliver E/E systems.
- Build mule vehicle electrical systems, perform software bring-up, execute vehicle diagnostics, and support V&V testing.
- Support manufacturing, quality, and customer support teams for vehicle electrical systems in a production environment.
- Operate in a team environment, providing guidance to design solutions and actively participating in design reviews.
- Create and review innovative HW/SW testing architectures and designs for challenging problems with some peer guidance or supervision.
- Solve integration issues that involve multiple code modules, code bases, and/or multiple developers.
- Employ independent troubleshooting strategies; quickly determine root cause with some support from others.
Requirements
- B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited engineering program.
- Previous engineering experience performing analysis, testing and/or design work for a defined portion of a project or equivalent
- Working knowledge of electrical components such as batteries, starters, alternators, relays, solenoids, sensors, lights, and connectors.
- Good written and verbal communications skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Electrical Testing and Power Electronics.
- Proficiency with Capital Harness and CREO (or other 3D CAD systems) used for schematic capture and harness design/routing.
- Familiar with network interface tools and diagnostic protocols (CANalyzer, CANape, UDS, XCP)
- Proven knowledge of vehicle systems, diesel engine systems, hydraulic systems, lift systems, x-by-wire, and network communications (J1939 CAN, LIN, SPE, USB).
- Demonstrated knowledge of the design and application for EMC qualification.
- Experience with VC-A2 (<= 60VDC) vehicle architectures.
- Established knowledge of integrating advanced technologies such as telematics, electrification (BEV/HEV), and automation.
- Experience with electrical system development of on-road or off-road mobile equipment applications, developing new hardware and software
- Operational knowledge of internal combustion engines and their control systems, emissions controls and calibrations.
- Demonstrated technical capability, including the ability of working hands-on in vehicles, engines and transmissions, utilizing electronic instrumentation in order to gather data relevant to performing design validation and root cause analysis in electronic systems.
