RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking several experienced candidates to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidates will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. These positions will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Embedded Software Engineer
Alternate Titles: (Software Engineer) (Software Developer) (Embedded Systems Engineer)
This position involves performing software engineering tasks such as requirements gathering, design, coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting throughout the application development lifecycle. The role requires expertise in software engineering principles and problem-solving, as well as analyzing existing systems to identify improvements.
Responsibilities
- Performs requirements gathering, application & architecture design, implementation, develop, coding, debugging, testing, troubleshooting, and providing support throughout the application development process.
- Regularly offers solutions to significant technical problems.
- Applies expertise in software engineering principles, technologies, methods, tools, and processes, to eliminate barriers to successful project completion.
- Analyzes existing information systems and applications to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
- Participates in the evaluation and selection process for new application packages, as needed.
- Defines development guidelines and standards to be utilized in software development /integration including developing custom integration solutions with major enhancements, interfaces, functions, and features.
- Generates and may approve software documentation and performs requirements-based verification and validation testing of software to assure all requirements are met.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other equivalent ABET accredited Engineering program.
- 4 years of experience in embedded software development (C/C preferred)
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of this job
- United States Citizenship
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Experience developing software for small-scale microcontrollers
- Experience or willingness to develop software for RTOS-based systems
- Experience in aerospace, automotive, medical or industry with strong emphasis on safety and rigorous quality standards
- Familiar with requirements-based verification
- Experience with unit testing or automated system testing
- Experience with Hardware In the Loop environments (HIL, HWIL)
- Demonstrated experience working from a vague statement of needs from customers.
- Ability to provide technical guidance, mentoring, consultative services, and innovative solutions.
