RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking a growth-oriented candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Mechanical Design Engineer
A Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for developing and maintaining mechanical system designs under the direction of a senior engineer or manager. They lead the development of subsystems in larger design efforts or the complete mechanical system development in smaller projects.
Job Description
- Prepares product designs in compliance with engineering principles, company standards, government regulations, and customer requirements.
- Establishes subsystem development plans and schedules from concept to production implementation within overall business requirements.
- Supporting the design and development of structural, electrical and hydraulic components.
- Use independent engineering analysis and judgment in the execution of designs.
- Translate requirements into a system architecture and detailed design.
- Design and develop complex mechanical systems, equipment, and products for industrial machinery.
- Determine feasibility of modifying existing or designing new equipment considering costs, time limitations, and other technical and economic factors.
- Validate designs through analysis and testing.
Requirements
- BS Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical or General)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in product design.
- Proficiency in software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point, Outlook and Teams as a minimum with a solid working knowledge of applications such as 2D/3D CAD (Creo, SolidWorks, Inventor).
- Use and understanding of engineering standards. Knowledge of typical engineering standards in drawing practice, dimensioning and tolerancing, drawing symbols, welding practice, etc.
Desired Skills
- Prior experience designing, transportation, agricultural, or heavy construction equipment.
- Experience with Power Systems including power units and generator sets (up to 2000HP)
- Complex/large scale machine layout and kinematic design.
- Large scale structural design and analysis experience.
- Experience directing individual engineers or designers.
