Mechanical Engineer- Factory First Response

RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is an engineering service provider dedicated to delivering our clients with timely engineering support and expertise. We are seeking an experienced candidate to become an integral part of our engineering team. The selected candidate will work with an experienced engineering staff using state-of-the-art engineering tools & processes. This position will operate onsite at our customer's world-class engineering and manufacturing facility.

Design Engineer – Factory First Response

The selected candidate will work with the current product group and will support the production of highly complex machines in the paving industry. The environment will be a mixture of office and factory. The work consists of solving problems identified by the assembly or manufacturing personnel with the use of the DMAIC process. Once acceptable solutions are identified, you will be responsible for implementing any of those solutions that require product design changes.

Responsibilities

• Soft Skills in Communication, Listening, and Sense of Urgency. This position requires the ability to interact with a number of different personnel and personalities.
• Self-motivated and able to drive action. You will need to work independently and prioritize the work that needs to be done.  Team members will assist, but you will be expected to research, ask pertinent questions, and implement solutions.
• Problem Solving Methodology such as DMAIC (Collaboration and Driving to Root Cause)
• Design Experience of off-highway vehicles such as construction equipment. You will be expected to concept design solutions and upon agreement implement said design changes.  Experience with light fabrications, weldments, and welding.
• Print Reading and understanding GD&T
• Distribute the information needed to make design/drawing changes to the customer’s overseas team. Review the work for quality and oversee progress towards releasing
• Summarize and communicate tasks/projects/status to the involved team members.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in mechanical, manufacturing, or agricultural engineering
• 3 years of experience in the off-highway vehicle design.
• Experience in 3-D Modeling Software (PTC Creo preferred)
• Able to attend a daily morning meeting with the Production team
• 5 days a week with a significant amount of time on the production floor
• It is a salaried position, but you may need to flex your time to meet with production. Occasional 6 AM starts may be required but generally the day will be 7 to 3:30.
• Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience or hobbies
• Excellent communication both written and verbal
• Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to thrive in a team environment

Desired Attributes

• Previous experience with Siemens TeamCenter
• Assembly /Manufacturing experience (Understanding of Takt time/ cycle time etc)
• Machining Experience
• Project Leadership
• Working Knowledge of Lean Processes
• Working Knowledge Quality Processes

Pay Range: $70k - $85k Commensurate with experience
