This position is located on Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands
Essential Functions
- Perform predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance for the ALTAIR radar antenna electro-mechanical control system components.
- Monitor, test, and evaluate radar servo/control system performance.
- Write procurement and repair specifications to upgrade or maintain antenna control system components.
- Lead in the design and implementation of improvement and modernization (I&M) projects involving electrical, servos, and antenna subsystems.
- Maintain drawings as required to accurately document system.
- Review and update manuals pertaining to antenna and control system.
- Ensure spare parts inventory up to date; procure parts as required.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of maintenance performed.
- Comply with all applicable standards, policies, and procedures, including safety procedures and the maintenance of a clean work area.
- Support day-to-day operations to meet radar mission requirements.
- Perform occasional shift work to support operational tasking.
- Work with minimal supervision.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Ability to perform critical thinking, solve problems and make logical decisions with limited information.
- Ability to effectively perform analysis, testing, maintenance, repair and replacement of control system components, cables, and wiring.
- Ability to effectively use standard electrical test equipment.
- Ability to read and understand electrical drawings.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to communicate with suppliers; perform material estimating; write technical specifications; read and approve submittals and finalize as-built drawings.
- General computer literacy using Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Knowledge of analog and digital control theory.
- Strong written & verbal communication skills.
- Familiarity with radar and tracking antenna systems desired.
- Retrofit of motor-generator DC drive-based systems with modern static drives and brushless DC motors desired.
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical major in engineering required, Master's degree in engineering desired.
- Five (5) years of experience with design, analysis, test and troubleshooting of analog/digital servo/control systems required, ten (10) years desired.
- Two (2) years of field support experience, working on electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical equipment.
- Hands-on experience with maintenance and repairs.
- Experience with Rockwell/Allen Bradley PLC systems desired.
- Experience with VISIO and MATLAB/Simulink desired
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
- Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Garrison, Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
- Willingness and physical ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
- Willingness and physical ability to work at heights up to 150 feet.
- The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
