What are the responsibilities and job description for the Float Medical Assistant position at Rheumatology Alliance LLC?
The float MA will handle phone calls and voicemail from the patients who are seeking medical information and/or medical attention. The float MA will address patient clinical questions, explaining/documenting laboratory results, calling in prescription refills, explaining procedures/treatments, initiating prior authorizations, and scheduling. The role of the float MA is to aid in coverage at various clinics if needed as well as assist other members of the medical staff when not working with a provider
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- travel between offices to aid in coverage
- Answering phone calls and voicemails.
- Answering patient clinical questions.
- Review medical history and counsel patients regarding their clinical status and need for further evaluation or treatment.
- Evaluate a new complaint by phone and triage to emergent, urgent, or routine appointment.
- Locate laboratory results not yet in the patient’s medical records.
- Explaining/documenting laboratory results.
- Calling in prescription refills.
- Explaining procedures and treatments.
- Initiating prior authorizations.
- Schedules appointments and urgent visits as appropriate.
- Documenting all information into the computer system.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all patient information.
- Adheres to policies/safety practices.

- E Clinical Works experience preferred
