Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Coding Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for accurately coding medical diagnoses. This role is essential in ensuring that our medical office operates efficiently while maintaining compliance with industry standards. The Coding Specialist will work closely with healthcare providers to ensure accurate documentation and billing processes.

Duties

• Review patient records and medical charts to extract relevant information for coding purposes.
• Assign appropriate codes for diagnoses, procedures, and services rendered using ICD-10.
• Ensure compliance with medical coding guidelines and regulations to minimize errors in billing and collections.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies or incomplete documentation.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, coding practices, and changes in regulations.
• Assist in the training of new staff on coding procedures and best practices as needed.
• Support the medical billing department by providing accurate codes for claims submission.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in medical coding, preferably in a medical office setting.
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10 and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with medical billing processes and collections is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in coding assignments.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret complex medical records effectively.
• Certification in medical coding.
