SUMMARY/PURPOSE OF JOB
The Clinical Liaison is responsible for growth and development of his/her assigned territory for inpatient admissions. The incumbent is responsible for marketing calls to appropriate referral sources in assigned territory and the ongoing assessment and recruitment of inpatient rehabilitation appropriate patients from age 15 and older for admissions to the facility and coordination of their transfer.
Understands and exhibits the principals of service excellence, leads by example, and mentors' others in the performance of their assigned duties. Additionally, understands that every employee is responsible for exhibiting exceptional customer service by answering call lights on the nursing unit and if not able to assist personally, will inform the appropriate employee regarding the patient's need. Understands the role of employee's individual position regarding HIPAA requirements and level of access to Protected Health Information as defined in HIPAA hospital-wide policies.
Understands that it is the responsibility of every RHI staff member to provide patient safety as a priority response according to RHI evidence-based practices. Encourages patients to be actively involved in their own care as patient safety strategy.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Builds and expands relationships with current and potential referral sources and patients in acute care hospitals to educate and develop understanding of Rehabilitation services. Calls upon hospital/ personnel, physicians and other potential referral sources to develop and manage relationships within designated territory to broaden the number of referral sources within a given hospital. Develops relationships, provides excellent customer service and educates referral sources on services provided by the hospital.
- Accountable for marketing goals and admissions on monthly basis. Coordinates and completes direct sales/business development appointments and marketing activities in cooperation with the marketing team
and supervisor. - Assess all potential in-patients for admission by assessing medical records and interviewing patient, family and physician for appropriateness in a rehab facility. Documents accurate and complete pre-admission assessments on referred patient's justifying admission into rehabilitation hospital. Considers financial and discharge disposition of the patient. Works collaboratively with admission personnel, administrators and physicians in the admission process.
- Fosters teamwork throughout the entire process. Communicates effectively with transfer to facilitate ease of admission and assists in orientation of patients and families to RHI and Hospital programs.
- Develops relationships, provides excellent customer service and educates referral sources on services provided by the hospital and within the post-Acute continuum. Problem solves service issues for referral sources with tact and resourcefulness. Displays professional behavior in referring facilities.
- Employee demonstrates effective communication and the ability to connect with patients, families, physicians, case managers and nurses.; Employee places customer first in the performance of job duties and responds to needs in a timely manner as evidenced by the absence of legitimate customer complaints.
- New admissions and denials placed timely into Referral Manager ensuring that dashboards and reports are an accurate reflection of workload and patient statuses. Turns in Stop light report on patient admission readiness, timely at the end of each working day. Attends business development meetings, contributes to team efforts with new ideas, plans or changes to position the Hospital in the marketplace and to improve market share.
- Assist in the development of new business opportunities in response to market needs under the direction of the Clinical Liaison Manager and Executive Director, Business Development and Marketing.
- Serves as orientation coordinator for education on marketing skills, territory planning and new business development for new territory staff as well as referral sources.
Participates in continuous quality improvement/program evaluation activities and observe measures to ensure Hospital, Joint Commission, CARF and other quality standards and regulations are met. - Uses appropriate technique in performing duties to avoid or minimize accidents and injury related to unsafe practice. Proactively seeks information and resources, including the Environment of Care Manual, to aid in safe performance of duties to contribute to the RHI culture of safety.

QUALIFICATIONS
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
Effective interpersonal skills and communication skills - written and oral; excellent interpersonal skills.
Marketing skills: ability to close sales, present accurate, target-specific information and a working knowledge of rehab concepts and multidisciplinary team approach; strong organizational skills. Ability to determine medical appropriateness for rehab, rehabilitation potential, and tolerance of therapy of specified aged adults. Bilingual capability (Spanish/English) preferred
EXPERIENCE
Two years sales/marketing experience or equivalent experience in healthcare in a collegial role with referring physicians preferred. Two years allied health professional, RN preferred or would consider LPN with 10 years or more experience. Clinical Liaison experience strongly preferred. Experience in the field of physical rehabilitation and trauma preferred.
SPECIAL TRAINING, LICENSURE, CREDENTIALING
- Current Indiana license as applicable.
EDUCATION
- Minimum of Associate's Degree with Bachelor's or Master's preferred. Additional experience, education or training in marketing required.
HOURS: Monday- Friday 8:00 AM- 5:00 PM with rotational weekend on-call
