Summary :
The position of Speech / Language Pathologist provides diagnosis of cognitive / communicative and swallowing disorders and administers speech, language, cognitive, swallowing and aural rehabilitation therapy services to physical medicine rehabilitation patients or long term acute care patients served from age 15 and older, either individually or in groups.
Essential Functions
- Administers S.T. evaluations to inpatients and outpatients and determines appropriate treatment programs and / or equipment needs, integrating age specific needs and issues for physical medicine rehabilitation population or long term acute care populations served.
- Provides comprehensive and accurate assessment for adults with speech, language, cognitive, voice, swallowing, and hearing impairment per policy for inpatients or outpatients.
- Responsible for assuring the treatment plan is revised / updated appropriately and communicated to appropriate team members including attendance at team conferences.
- Accurately documents patient treatment in a timely manner to ensure an accurate and complete medical record
- Provides clinical supervision, including but not limited to coordination of care and delegation of duties, to assistants, techs, and yearly students according to state / governing regulations and hospital guidelines
