Rhinebeck Equine has the largest equine referral hospital and ambulatory service in the Hudson Valley with board-certified specialists in surgery, internal medicine, theriogenology, and ophthalmology. Our 27-stall facility and ambulatory services provide routine, emergency and specialty coverage for a wide range of breeds and disciplines in the beautiful Hudson River Valley about 2 hours north of NYC.
Rhinebeck Equine is seeking a seasonal veterinary assistant for our board-certified Theriogenologist on local breeding farms and at our referral hospital. Primary requirements will be assisting the veterinarian with medical procedures, record-keeping, billing, carrying equipment and supplies to and from the mobile unit, laboratory work, and stocking the truck with supplies. This would be an excellent opportunity for someone looking to pursue a career in the equine veterinary field or a commercial breeding farm to gain more experience.
Our reproduction caseload is diverse and includes all aspects of routine stud farm medicine, on Standardbred and Thoroughbred farms, management of subfertile mares and stallion fertility problems, embryo transfer, high-risk pregnancies, foaling management of normal and high-risk pregnancies, dystocias, management of healthy neonates, and post-partum complications (e.g., mastitis, dysfunctional lactation, metritis, and retained fetal membranes).
Experience with horses and foals is required. Applicants should be compassionate, motivated, organized, and detail-oriented. Depending on your availability and experience, a full or part-time position may be available. The ability to work flexible hours and weekends is a plus.

Pay: $19.50 - $21.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
