As a Shipping and Receiving Associate, you will play a crucial role on our Distribution Center team by performing tasks related to the efficient flow of goods in or out of our warehouse facility. In this role, you will quickly become proficient in either shipping or receiving duties. You will be responsible for accurately receiving incoming shipments of raw materials and equipment, or preparing outgoing shipments of raw materials and finished product, and maintaining organized inventory records. To be successful in this role you will need to pay close attention to detail, stay organized, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
What you'll accomplish:
Shipping:
- Prepare outgoing shipments by selecting appropriate packaging materials, and labeling packages.
- Pay close attention to detail when verify contents of shipments against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for all outgoing shipments.
- Load finished product to third-party trucks and raw materials to transfer trucks, transporting materials from designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment following established procedures.
- Ensure that the products are loaded securely and according to the delivery schedule.
- Utilize ERP reports to plan daily workload of all outbound dock appointments.
- Collaborate with other warehouse team members and departments to prioritize and fulfill customer orders in a timely manner.
Receiving:
- Receive incoming shipments.
- Pay close attention to detail when verify contents of deliveries against purchase orders and packing slips.
- Unload raw materials, and finished products from third-party and transfer trucks, transport materials to designated storage areas using forklifts, pallet jacks, or other equipment following established procedures.
- Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping for all incoming shipments.
- Utilize ERP reports to plan daily workload of all inbound dock appointments.
- Rotate racking locations based on first in first out.
- Greet drivers and guests at the distribution center and ensure everyone signs in and out.
- Inspect products received to verify that they meet quality standards and are free from damage or spoilage. Report discrepancies or issues and communicate them to the Team Leader and Purchasing for resolution.
- Sort inspected products based on factors such as temperature requirements, shelf-life, and destination. Then properly store product in designated areas within the distribution center, such as refrigerated or frozen storage units, or dry storage areas.
Other duties:
- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.
- Utilize email, Microsoft applications, and other internal software for daily communication between facilities, shifts, and departments.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and your team members.
- Participate in the daily Master Sanitation program.
- Participate in department, team, and company meetings.
- May perform a variety of tasks which directly contribute to Rhino Foods but may not directly relate to the primary duties and responsibilities of the job.
What you'll need to succeed:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in food manufacturing or warehousing preferred.
- Previous experience operating a forklift preferred.
Flexibility is essential in Rhino’s ability to respond to short-term demands and ensure smooth operations during busy times. You may be involved in voluntary overtime or temporary assignments that result in extended shifts, weekend shifts, work completed on a different shift, or at another Rhino location based on business needs.
