Responsible for providing expertise, analysis and solutions to complex billing related to the over 23 complex electric and gas rates standard billing, regulatory processes and technical problems with a focus on improving operational effectiveness and excellence. The Lead Billing and Complex Rate Specialist has an in-depth knowledge and understanding of complex billing processes, inclusive of multi meter billing, interval data, MDMS, and the systems to support the tasks. Proactive monitoring is performed to identify potential concerns. This position is the Senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for projects that impact Last Resort billing, Supplier billing and enhances other's billing SME's understanding of business processes and systems. #RIE #INDRIE
Responsibilities:Enhance other's understanding of “end-to-end” metering, rates, and billing processes
Review and create detailed documentation of business processes and the use of associated systems, inclusive of any manual calculations to validate billing determinants; Plan B for B-32 accounts and all other complex billing scenarios.
Monitor and analyze various system control reports, to determine root cause and resolution
Implement new controls
Support Billing Regulatory Projects as directed
Develop training and advise others
Perform account data repairs to allow system users to proceed with customer billings
Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal customers and other billing specialists and MDMS team.
1Prepare and deliver testimony for regulatory proceedings
Investigate and respond to inquiries from internal and external customers, i.e. Call Center, Business Accounts, and/or Suppliers.
Identify opportunities to use information technology to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of business processes.
Define requirements, prepare process flows, test and implement billing process and system improvement changes due to Regulatory orders or business process improvements to streamline processes and reduce billing costs.
Assist with business case preparation
Prepare clear, concise, comprehensive communications with minimal supervisory
input to internal (various departments) and external (EGS, PUC) stakeholders
Facilitate meetings and deliver presentations
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all departments in PPL Electric Utilities as well as regulatory agencies and working teams (EDEWG, OCMO and PUC/BCS).
Bachelor's Degree and 7 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business or MBA
Utility experience in the energy industry with a focus on the appropriate one of the following: Complex billing, MDMS, EDI, credit and collection, business operations and planning, customer service, regulatory and or finance.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs: Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to function efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic team environment
