Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Head of Communications, manage external communications strategies, ensuring alignment with the company’s goals and values
- Develop and maintain strong media relations to enhance the company's visibility and reputation – this includes with local, regional, national and trade media
- Support social media efforts, including content creation, monitoring, and engagement
- Craft compelling stories and messaging that highlight the company's initiatives, achievements, and impact to be used in news releases, OpEds, social media posts, and other external communications
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive and consistent communication across all channels
- Employ a rapid response mindset to manage crisis communications at a moment’s notice and act as a spokesperson when needed
- Monitor industry trends and provide insights to enhance communication strategies
- Must be available and willing to work during the company’s storm and emergency response engagements to effectively deliver information to the public
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
- 8-10 years of experience in external communications, media relations, and social media management
- Excellent understanding of the news media, news cycles, media measurement and media relations strategies
- Ability to quickly understand and vet potential brand risk and critical issues and create a response strategy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Experience in the energy industry is a plus
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams
- Proactive and responsive in a fast-paced environment
