The Director Clinical Operations Interventional Radiology reports to the Vice President of Medical Imaging and in cooperation with the Medical Director of the division is responsible for strategic planning operational leadership and clinical oversight in the Interventional Departments across Brown University Health. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care while driving operational efficiency compliance and growth. The Director collaborates with physicians nursing staff administrative leaders and other stakeholders to meet organizational goals and advance the department�s mission.
The Director Clinical Operations Interventional Radiology pursues the development and operational efficiency of the Interventional Radiology department in terms of quality of care volume scope of services growth and cost effectiveness. Exercises shared responsibility for maintaining an appropriate balance of cooperation communication and integration among the organization's directors and matrix managers in order to ensure an efficient and progressive environment that carries out a program of quality patient care management

Operational Leadership:
Develop and implement policies protocols and workflows to optimize efficiency and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Oversee daily operations of the interventional radiology department including staffing resource allocation and patient flow.
Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as procedure volumes turnaround times patient satisfaction scores and expenses.
Collaborate with ancillary departments (e.g. scheduling nursing and imaging) to ensure seamless care delivery.
Develops and maintains effective collaborative relationships with key stakeholders and supports the Trauma Center and Stroke Comprehensive Programs as it related to IR-related procedures.
Strategic Planning:
Develop and execute a strategic plan to support the growth and expansion of interventional radiology services across the Brown University Health system.
Identify opportunities to introduce new procedures technologies or service lines based on market demand and emerging trends and complete value analysis for new technologies.
Participate in capital and operational budget planning to ensure resources align with departmental goals.
Recommends improvements of facilities including renovations purchase of new equipment and expanding or adding new services.
Clinical Excellence and Compliance
Ensures that all areas of responsibility reach or exceed the standards required by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Hospitals State of RIH License requirements and all other state or federal regulatory bodies.
Promote a culture of safety and quality leading initiatives to reduce adverse events and improve clinical outcomes.
Team Leadership and Development
Recruit train and retain a high-performing clinical and administrative team.
Implement professional development programs including career ladders and continuing education opportunities.
Foster a collaborative and inclusive culture that enhances staff morale and engagement.
Financial Oversight
Manage departmental budgets including cost control revenue generation and financial reporting.
Develop business cases for new programs or equipment purchases to drive ROI.
Collaborate with billing and coding teams to optimize reimbursement processes.
Work with the VP of Medical Imaging and Medical Director to develop the annual operating budget for the section and recommend expenditure priorities relative to anticipated service demand.
Manages IR inventory and procurement process for the department and ensures medical staff are compliant with research related projects and devices/equipment.
Stakeholder Collaboration
Act as the primary liaison between interventional radiology and other clinical or administrative departments.
Engage with physician leaders to align departmental objectives with broader organizational goals.
Represent the department in meetings committees and community outreach initiatives.
Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor�s degree in healthcare administration or a related field
Master's degree preferred
Current and valid license to practice in the State of Rhode Island preferred
Registered by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist
EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years of progressive leadership experience in imaging operations within a healthcare setting.
Strong understanding of Interventional Radiology operations and regulatory requirements.
Proven track record of driving operational efficiency and process improvement initiatives in a complex healthcare environment.
Excellent leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and lead multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated financial analytical and resource management skills.
Ability to analyze data and implement performance improvement initiatives.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Exposed to radiation and radioactive materials and contact with patients who have various diseases. Hazards are minimized by adherence to established safety precautions.
Movement of imaging equipment as prescribed by vendors and lifting/positioning patients while exercising reasonable rules of body mechanics.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Performs independently within department policies and practices. Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of departmental policies and procedures may be required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
Supervisory responsibility for up to 50 FTE�s.
