What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nursing Assistant Educator position at Rhode Island Hospital?
Under the supervision of the Senior Nurse Educator of the Brown University Health Nursing Assistant School within Brown University Health�s Workforce Development (WFD) Department. Performs duties to educate Brown University Health Nursing Assistant School students. Provides instructional support in the lecture lab and clinical setting and assists with processing students for Employee Occupational Health Services.
Collaborate with Workforce Development Nurse Educators to organize work and set priorities.
Under the supervision of the Nurse Educator:
Provides instructional support to the students of the Brown University Health Nursing Assistant School in the lecture lab and clinical setting.
Effectively utilizes adult learning techniques for varied learning styles and multi-modal environments.
Provides students with academic support as needed.
Works collaboratively with Workforce Development team members to develop an environment that promotes student growth role competency and proficiency in nursing assistant skills and critical thinking.
Acts as an extension of Brown University Health EOHS for fit testing of Workforce Development cohorts.
Attends trainings workshops and team meetings as directed.
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student population.
Collaborates with the Brown University Health Nursing Assistant School Program Coordinator to support recruitment efforts through the conduction of informational sessions and interviews.
Collaborates with the Brown University Health Nursing Assistant School Program Coordinator to provide case management for nursing assistant students.
Coordinates with the members of Brown University Health�s Talent Acquisition team to participate in Brown University Health recruitment events and completes associated training.
Interacts with candidates at recruitment events to discuss open positions and promote Brown University Health as a �best� place to work. Possess an understanding of policies procedures and best practices; May discuss employment processes policies and benefits with candidates.
Communicates effectively both verbally and in writing; employs tact and diplomacy in all interactions; collaborates effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds at all levels within the organization.
Performs other related duties as required.
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
Current Rhode Island license as a Nursing Assistant.
High school graduate or its equivalent preferred.
Certified in American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
Intermediate computer skills required.
Strong interpersonal skills required.
A minimum of 2 years of relevant clinical experience in a hospital setting is required.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to patients throughout the life span with consideration of aging processes human development stages and cultural patterns in each step of the care process.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Works in environments such as acute care hospitals and classroom settings. Prolonged sitting standing and walking. Repeated bending squatting and stooping. May be required to lift/turn patients and equipment. May be required to lift push or pull equipment up to 35 pounds.
Position will utilize a hybrid model that blends both virtual and in-person commitments.
INDEPENDENT ACTION:
Works under the supervision of the Nurse Educator within the scope of hospital and department policies and practices and the Rhode Island Department of Health Professional Licensing and Facility Regulation.
Refers specific complex problems to supervisor where clarification of department policies and procedures may be required.
