Job description

Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner is accepting applications for an operations coordinator for the RI Nursing Education Center (RINEC) facility. The operations coordinator will be responsible for supporting the overall operations of classroom, simulation, and administrative aspects of Rhode Island Nursing Education Center. The coordinator will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day operations, in conjunction with the director and managers, and being a main point of contact for operations. The coordinator will work closely with team leaders in each department (administrative, classrooms, facilities, simulation, and technology), providing support in each department.

Rhode Island Nursing Education Center is overseen by the Rhode Island Office of the Postsecondary Commissioner. It is a shared facility between Rhode Island College School of Nursing and University of Rhode Island College of Nursing. Rhode Island Nursing Education Center occupies approximately 131,000 square feet of South Street Landing. It includes shared simulation suites, skills labs, and classrooms as well as institutional faculty offices. Rhode Island Nursing Education Center offers state-of-the-art learning environments for the nursing students of Rhode Island College School of Nursing and University of Rhode Island College of Nursing.

Essential Job Functions

  • Coordinating classroom, simulation, and administrative services within the RINEC tenant space including, but not limited to, planning, tracking and evaluating all projects.
  • Supporting a complex usage tracking system of the center.
  • Collaborating with staff, management, and the director to set departmental and organization-wide goals.
  • Designing and maintaining clear operational guides to ensure consistency of operations.
  • Acting as a main contact for all classroom, simulation, and administrative operations.
  • Working with Rhode Island College and the University of Rhode Island to schedule simulation activities and classroom activities in conjunction with the director and facilities coordinator. Work with external parties in scheduling activities at RINEC. Support the maintenance of a detailed class schedule and updated calendar.
  • Acting as a point of contact between the director and external organizations/state agencies.
  • Processing confidential and important/complex documents, correspondence, agreements and leases. Researching and drafting written responses; reviewing communications prepared by others for the director’s signature.
  • Responsible for obtaining information and making recommendations related to specific problems, activities or policies.
  • Maintaining an agenda of concerns that can be presented to both the director and staff to ensure timely management of the issue.
  • Handling information of a sensitive and confidential nature.
  • Coordinating day-to-day operations at the center.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Required qualifications standards

Education

Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience

Minimum of three years’ experience in a complex administrative or operational role, preferably in education and health or technology setting, with responsibility for procedural development. Demonstrated ability to work in a culturally diverse environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with scheduling and scheduling systems.
  • Experience in healthcare with a CNA or EMT license.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing operational procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects at one time.

Required skills, knowledge and abilities

  • Ability to work non-standard hours.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Experience working with students and faculty in the higher education environment.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, and to work with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment, balancing multiple priorities, ability to handle information of a sensitive and confidential nature.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
  • Ability to interpret institutional policies, plans, objectives, rules, and regulations.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint and Word) and One Drive.

Environmental conditions

Office and clinical simulation lab environment. Varied laboratory conditions involving mechanical, electrical, and lifting hazards. Includes work with medical equipment including latex-based products.

This is a full-time, non-union, non-classified exempt position with a pay grade of 10 and involves non-standard hours as required. The coordinator reports to the director of RINEC. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
