Amergis Educational Staffing is seeking a Reading Specialist for a school based position in the East Greenwich area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Diagnosing and addressing reading difficulties in students, providing individualized or small group instruction to help them improve their literacy skills, including decoding, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary, often working with students who are struggling in a regular classroom setting and may have learning disabilities.
Key responsibilities of a reading specialist may include:
Assessment: Conducting comprehensive reading assessments to identify specific areas of need for each student, such as phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
Intervention planning: Developing individualized reading intervention plans based on assessment results, tailoring instruction to each student's unique needs.
Direct instruction: Providing targeted reading instruction in small groups or individually, focusing on specific skills like phonics, decoding, fluency practice, and comprehension strategies.
Collaboration with teachers: Consulting with classroom teachers to discuss student progress, share strategies for supporting reading development, and co-plan lessons.
Data analysis: Monitoring student progress through ongoing assessments, analyzing data to make informed adjustments to intervention plans.
Minimum Requirements:
Demonstrate excellence in verbal and written communications
Experience with collaborative groups and processes in a student-centered environment
Other qualifications of academic, professional, and personal excellence as the Governing Board may specify
Must be at least 18 years of age
Salary : $40 - $42
